M. Jeanne Jones
M. Jeanne (Rouillard) Jones of
Melrose died January 25, 2007 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston, surrounded
by her loving family. Born at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on March 23, 1926,
Jeanne was the daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Friberg) Rouillard. Raised in
Braintree and then Malden, she graduated from Malden High School in 1944.
Jeanne was a devoted daughter and sister who loved “big band” music, was active
in the Resolute Rebekah Lodge and at the Boston YWCA, and
taught Sunday school at St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish in Malden. She worked at
Andrew Dutton in Boston, before dedicating herself to making a home for her
beloved husband and family.
Jeanne met Richard W. Jones, her
best friend, soul-mate and husband of 53 years, in 1952. They were married at
St. Paul’s in June of 1953, and settled in Melrose in 1963. Jeanne was a
longtime member of the Camp Fire organization, participating in town and Greater
Boston Council activities in addition to being Leader and “second mother” to her
own group of girls for twelve years. She was an avid seamstress and talented at
a variety of crafts. She remained an active, dedicated and much-loved member of
St. Paul’s Parish throughout her life.
Jeanne was a devoted mother to
Richard B. Jones and his wife Susan T. of Hudson, NH; Pamela J. Foshay and her
husband Bruce F. of Bedford, NH; and A. Ted Jones of Medford. She was the
cherished grandmother of six: Jennifer, Bethany, Victoria, Andrew and Matthew
Jones, and Lauren Barletta. She will also be missed by her sister Phyllis M.
Hodgson and her husband, John G., also of Melrose; her brother-in-law Robert A.
Jones and his wife Linda of Boothbay, Maine; her many nieces and nephews; and by
her beloved Pekingese, Sandy.
. Visitation will be
held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Sunday January 28th.

A celebration of
life for Jeanne will be held in St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish, 26 Washington St.,
Malden, on Monday, Jan. 29th at 11AM. Rev. John R. Clarke of St. Paul's Parish
will be officiating. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody at a
later date.
