John Henry Kelly
John Henry Kelly, 86,
lifelong resident of Boston and past resident of the Beacon House,
died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the Wilmington Health Care
Center in Wilmington. John was born and raised in Somerville, attending the local
school system there. Like
many of his day, he had left school early and enlisted in the Navy
to help fight in WWII. He
served honorably for nearly 4 years, and was discharged at the end
of the war having attained the rank of Coxswain.
Upon returning to the states, he resumed employment with
the Parker House, where he was a porter.
He worked at the Hotel for many many years until his
retirement. John
was a “Life Member” of the Beachmont VFW, Post 6712, in
Revere.
He is survived by his nephews, Robert J. Kelly of
Chelmsford, and Ralph
J. Kelly of Melrose.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
George A. and Catherine A. (Cronin)
Kelly, his brother Ralph
R. Kelly, and his nephew Timothy S. Kelly.
Visitation will be held at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on Wednesday, October
13th from 6 - 9 PM
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct 14th,
at the Massachusetts
National Cemetery in Bourne.
