Kenneth Wesley Liddell

 

Kenneth Wesley Liddell, 76, died Thursday, October 31, 2002 at Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford, MA after a lengthy illness.  Ken was born in Malden and grew up in Everett where he was educated, graduating Everett High School with the "Class of 1943". When he graduated from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, when W.W.II broke out. He served as Yeoman Second Class Aboard the USS Thorn hill, Destroyer DE 195 in the European, African, Asiatic and Pacific Theaters until the end of the war. After his discharge he became a salesman for North Shore Heating Supply Co. in Lynn. He soon met his wife Helen and they were married July 15, 1950 at The Everett Congregational Church. He later went to work as a salesman for Walden Pipe of Wakefield where he was employed for a number of years until his retirement. He was a long time Northern Little League Coach in Malden and a member of the Youth Committee at the Malden YMCA. He was an avid bowler and loved to read and do cross word puzzles. He loved to play bridge at the DAV of Malden where he was a member and was devoted to his wife, children and grand children.  Mr. Liddell lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 52 years and was previously from Everett .

He is survived by his wife Helen L. (Maynard) Liddell of Malden, his sons: Roy  W. Liddell of Attleboro & Kenneth   C. Liddell of IL, his daughters: Dorothy J. Holmgren of Wakefield &  Nancy    A. Cutino of Tyngsboro,  his sisters: Marjorie Kelleher of Malden & Barbara Conway  of Burlington, nine Grandchildren and three Gt.-Grandchildren.

He was born December 16, 1925 in Malden, MA the son of the late Frank and Inez (Mitchell) Liddell.  He served in the Navy during World War II having attained the rank of Yeoman, Second Class. Enlisting on August 7, 1943 at Boston,  MA and discharged on May 4, 1945 at Boston,  MA 

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM

Contributions in Ken’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 25 Stuart Street, Boston MA 02116 4700 

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at the Weir Funeral Home. Fr.  Jack Kelleher  Ken’s Nephew will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn  Memorial Park in Peabody.
