Joseph Michael King
Joseph Michael King, 73, a
retired mail handler for US Post Office, where he worked for 37 years, died
Monday, July 03, 2006 at Harborside Health Care in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
Joe was born and raised Newfoundland, Canada. At an early age, he moved to the
Boston area, and settled in Malden. He enlisted in the Army soon after
completing his education. He served during the Korean Conflict, and in 1953, he
was discharged as a Corporal. It was in 1959 that Joe took employment with the
US Postal Service. He worked as a mail handler for over 37 years, until his
retirement in 1996. During that time, he returned to Malden where he and his
wife Betty resided together until her passing at the end of 1996.
He is survived by son,
Timothy King of Salem, his daughters, Linda Anderson of Maynard, and Karen Di
Lorenzo of Dracut, his sisters, Terry Titus of Malden, and Mildred Ross of
Malden, his brother Jack King of Malden as well as his
grandchildren, Sarah King, Christine DiLorenzo, and Douglas Balakovich.
He was preceded in death by
his wife Betty J. (Jarrett), his parents, Timothy and Rita (Southwell) King,
and his sister Helen Coakley.
Funeral services will be held
at the Weir Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Friday, July 7th,
at 10AM. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
Visitation will be held from 4
– 8 PM at the funeral home, on Thursday, July 6th.
