Obituaries  

Velma Atherton Lane

  Velma A. (Atherton)  Lane,  62, died Sunday, January 16, 2005 at the Lawrence  Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA after along illness.  Velma was born and educated in Skowhegan, Maine, and  later moved  to the Boston area at the age of eighteen.

She meet her husband  David  at the Center Club in Boston and the couple would marry on July 17, 1977  in the South Church, in Boston.  They settled in Alliston  and  she worked for the Greater Boston Rehab in Cambridge for ten years. The couple later  moved to Malden and bought a home and she worked for  Triangle, Inc  for five years as a  assembly  worker,  until her health problems.  She had been  a member of the Center Club of Boston for over twenty years and the couple shared a love  for photography. Velma  had lived in Malden  for the last sixteen years  and was previously from  Allison and  Skowhegan, Maine.

She is survived by her husband David Lane of  Malden, her sisters Arlene Woods of Skowhegan, ME,  Patricia Woods of  FL, her brothers,  Charles Burrill of VT, Leslie Burrill of Pittsfield, MA,  Francis Burrill & Phillip Burrill both of Maine.

She was preceded in death by her father Elgin Atherton, and her mother Joyce Barrett.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144  Salem St. Malden.   Rev. Rod Rivera of First Church of the Nazarene will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
