Allen Washington Langston

Allen W. Langston, 73, died on Friday, July 8, 2005 at his home after a long illness.  Born in Newton Grove, NC on September 30, 1931, the son of the late Luther and Eliza (Williams) Langston.  After Allen graduated from high school in Newton Grove, he and his family moved to Boston in 1951.  Shortly after, he enlisted in the Air Force in March of 1952.  On September 20, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Dorothy V. (Jackson) in Ipswich, MA.  After attaining the rank of Airman 1st Class, Allen was discharged from the Air Force in March of 1956.  In 1965, he was hired by the Malden Police Department and served as a Patrolman for 31 years until his retirement in 1996.  Allen was a past member of the I.B.O.E. of W.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy V. of Malden, MA, his children, Mildred Augustine of Boston, Robert A. Langston of Malden, Stanley H. Langston of Cape Cod, Beverly A. Langston of Malden, and Michael A. Langston of Malden, his siblings, Edna Jackson of Roxbury, Grady L. Langston of FL, Lovestine Eason of Boston, and Jerry Langston of Randolph, as well as five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Walter G. Langston.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody at 11 AM.  Family and friends are invited to meet at the Weir  ~ MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home 144 Salem St. Malden at 10 AM for a funeral procession to Puritan Lawn. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 4-8 PM.
