Sibley Aretas Lenfest

 

Sibley Aretas Lenfest,  90, died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.  Sibley was raised and educated in Watertown.  In 1940, he moved to the Malden area and has been a resident  there for 64 years.  Sibley worked for the Malden Post Office for many years, and retired from there as the Station Superintendent.  He was a long time active member of the Lodge of Sterling, Malden, Past Master Pequossette Lodge, Watertown, and a dedicated member of the Maplewood Baptist Church for 62  years. 

He is survived by his wife Patricia  of Malden and her daughter Terry Nickerson, his son Richard S. Lenfest of Clinton, ME and his daughter-in - law Alexandra  Lenfest of NH, his two  daughters, Mary Anne and her husband Carlton Wright of Hollywood, FL  and Janice L. and her husband Rev. William Bellaire of Clinton, ME, his brother Leslie and wife Virginia Lenfest of ME.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sandra Gillis and her husband Brian, Kristen Lenfest, Mark Bellaire and his wife Erin, Stephen Bellaire and Susan Fultz and  her husband Larry  and his great-grandchildren Michael and Elizabeth Gillis.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marguerite E. (Richards) Lenfest, his parents,  John and  Lottie (Wellman) Lenfest, his brothers Benjamin & Lee Lenfest, and sister Loena Lenfest.

He was born June 22, 1913 in Union, Maine the son of the late John and Lottie (Wellman) Lenfest.  He served in the Navy during World War II, having attained the rank of Mailman 3rd Class.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden,  on Sunday, February 15th,  from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 16th, at the Maplewood Baptist Church , 729 Salem Street, Malden, at 10 AM.    Pastor Gary L. Mc Clenthen of Maplewood Baptist Church and Sibley's son-in-law, Rev. William Bellaire will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn  Memorial Park in Peabody.
