Mary
Elizabeth Leuchter
Mary E. Leuchter of Malden died Monday, January 14, 2008 at the
Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, she was 96. Born in
Malden on September 15, 1911, she was the daughter of the late
Hubert R. and Mary E. (Johnson) Herrick. Mary was raised and
educated in Malden. She married her sweetheart, Fred A.
Leuchter, in June of 1939 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish. Mary
was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a cashier
for the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Mary spent many years
working with her sister Virginia at the R.M.V. When she
retired, Mary was the head cashier in the department. In
addition to her work with the state, Mary was also a licensed
hairdresser. She and her sister, Virginia, were also members of
the Daughters of the American Revolution – Lexington Chapter.
Mary is survived by her son, Fred A. Leuchter and his wife,
Terri Robinson, of Malden, her sister, Virginia S. Herrick of
Malden, and her grandchildren, Andrew and Christine Robinson,
both of Malden. Mary is also survived by two nieces and two
nephews.
In addition to
her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her two
brothers, Wallace O. Herrick and Hubert R. Herrick, Jr.
A memorial visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden
Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, January
17, 2008 from 4 to 8 PM.
A graveside
service for Mary will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 10
AM in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
