Robert Earl Lewis

Robert Earl Lewis, 73, died , suddenly, Monday, October 28, 2002 at his home in Malden, MA. .  Robert was born and educated in Somerville and after completing high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the 65th Engineer Battalion  of the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Somerville after his discharge and went to work for Jackson Chairs of Somerville as a laborer and was employed there for over twenty years until retiring due to a disability.  Mr. Lewis lived in Malden, MA for the past fourteen years and was previously from Somerville.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jeanne Di Chicco of Malden, his daughter Janet A. and her husband John Gibson of NH, his son, Robert F. Lewis of NH, his son, Michael J. Lewis of NH, his brother, George Lewis of ME, his brother Frank Lewis of FL,  his brother in-law, Edward & his wife Edna O'Brien of Arlington and his grandchildren Robyn, Dennis and Julie Di Chicco and Allyson and Katie Gibson

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude E. (O’Brien) Lewis of Malden  and his sister Evelyn O'Brien of NH.

He was born February 1, 1929 in Somerville, MA the son of the late George and Edna (Rudolph) Lewis. 

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict having attained the rank of Pfc. enlisting on December 15, 1951 at Boston, MA discharged on November 13, 1952 at Ft. Devens, MA 

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Thursday from 12- 1:00 PM

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Francis E. Sullivan  of Scared Heart’s  Church will be officiating.  Cremation will follow in the Woodlawn Crematory in Everett.
