Jean Florence Locke
Jean Florence Locke, 77, died May 3, 2005 at the Kaiser Hospital in San Diego, CA. Jean was born and raised in
Charlestown, MA, the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Ferguson) Long.
After she graduated from Charlestown High School, she went to work for Schraft’s
Candy Co. for a short time until she married her sweetheart, Raymond E. Locke,
on July 2, 1955. The couple moved to Malden shortly after their marriage to
start their family. After many years as a dedicated and devoted mother, Jean
and Ray moved to San Diego in 1977 to enjoy their retirement. The couple would
have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Along with
being a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife, Jean was an avid bingo player,
playing most of the time at St. Joseph’s Church. Jean also enjoyed shopping and
bargaining at any flea market or thrift store in the area.
She is survived by her
husband, Raymond E. Locke of San Diego, CA, her daughters, Judy A. and her
husband, Stephen, Smith of Everett, and Debra J. and her husband, Dale, Dodds of
Temecula, CA, her sons, Raymond E. Locke, Jr. of Malden, and William P. Locke of
San Diego, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Jean was the last
surviving sibling of 9 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be
held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home 144 Salem St. MALDEN on
Monday May 9th from 4 to 7:30 PM. A service of reflections will take place
immediately following the calling hours from 7:30 to 8 PM. A public committal
service will be held at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden, on Tuesday, May 10th
at 10AM.
