John Albert Lofstrand
John Albert Lofstrand, 90, a retired financial officer for
First National Bank of Boston, where he worked for 46 years, died Friday,
October 5, 2001 at the Copley at Stoughton in Stoughton, MA.
John was born in Chelsea and educated in Cambridge & Everett schools
systems.
When he completed school he became a messenger for the U.S.
Trust of Boston before going to work for the First National Bank of Boston in
the counting room. When W.W. II broke out he enlisted in the U.S. Army and
served until the end of the war. He returned to the First National Bank of
Boston where he was employed for forty-six years, and at his retirement in 1975
were servings as a financial officer. He was a longtime member of the First
Lutheran Church of Malden where he was also a member of the Lutheran
Brotherhood. He was a member of the Malden Senior Citizen Center and a member of
their harmonica band for over twenty-seven years. He was also very active with
Boy Scout Troop # 612 of the Maplewood Baptist Church where he served as
Assistant Scout Master and a member of the Executive Board.
Mr. Lofstrand had resided in Malden for many years
John was survived by his sons, Richard J. Lofstrand of
Newnan, GA, and Carl O. Lofstrand of West Bridgewater, MA, 5 grandchildren and 1
great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice E. Anderson,
his father John R. Lofstrand, his mother Augusta Stone, and his sister Lillian
Helgason-Svenson preceded him in death.
He was born November 3, 1910 in Chelsea, Massachusetts the
son of John and Augusta (Stone) Lofstrand.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II having
attained the rank of Pvt. He enlisted on November 24, 1942 at Boston, MA
discharged on August 19, 1943 at Camp Edwards, MA
Visitation will be held at Weir -MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM
In lieu of flowers contributions in Johns memory maybe made
to the Memorial Fund of the First Lutheran Church 62 Church St. Malden, MA

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at
10:00 A.M. at Weir - Mac Cuish Funeral Home. The Rev. James W. Knowles of First
Lutheran Church will be officiating. Cremation
will be in the Woodlawn Crematory in Everett.
