Joseph Linwood Mabey
Joseph L. Mabey, 80, died on
Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford, MA after
a long illness. Born in Malden on August 31, 1924, the son of the late Joseph
C.B. and Helen M. (MacCormac) Mabey. Joseph was a graduate of Malden High
School with the Class of 1942. He attended MIT in the fall of ’42, but left in
December to join the U.S. Army and fight for his country during WWII. Upon his
return home in 1949, he took employment with the Elliot Co. in Cambridge as a
machinist. During the 1960’s, he went to work for M.I.T. as an engineer.
Joseph then went on to work for Lincoln Laboratories, a Division of MIT, until
his retirement in 1996. Joseph was a member of the Quarter Century Club, an
organization of past M.I.T. employees. Joseph was a life-long resident of
Malden.
He is survived by his
daughter, Wally Mabey of Arlington.
A funeral service will be held
at the Weir ~ MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home 144 Salem St., Malden on
Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Forest Dale
Cemetery, Malden. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral
home from 10 to 12 Noon. Contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to the
American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham MA 01701-9376. |
