Eleanor Louise Maffeo

Eleanor L. (Chappell)  Maffeo,  84, died Thursday morning, January 13, 2005 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA.  Eleanor was born in Cambridge,  and raised in Malden. She was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1938.   In her earlier years she worked  as a draftsman at the National Radio Co. on Mountain  Ave., Malden. for  ten years. She later worked for  Zayre's  Dept. Store, Medford  as a salesclerk for four  years.  She was a life long member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Malden, and  a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of  Rebekah of Malden. Eleanor spend winters  in  Orlando, FL and summers in Ossipee, NH,  she  loved  camping in  New Hampshire.  Mrs. Maffeo was a life long resident of Malden.

She is survived by her son’s  Herbert “Biff” Maffeo, Jr. and  his wife  Marie  of Malden, Paul L. Maffeo and his wife Frances  of  Salisbury,  her sister Virginia   H. Nelson  of Malden. Grandmother of  Herbert Maffeo, III,  Amanda Maffeo,  Paul  " Mike" Maffeo,  Jessica  A. Maffeo.

She was preceded in death by her  husband Herbert M. Maffeo Sr., her father Pearley Chappell, her mother Annie Shanks, and her brother Pearley  A."Sonny" Chappell.

She was born August 5, 1920 in Cambridge, Massachusetts the daughter of late Pearley and Annie (Shanks) Chappell.     

Visiting hours on Friday,  January  14th.  in the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St.,  Malden  from 4-8 PM..

Contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of  the First Church of the Nazarene,  529  Eastern Ave.,  Malden,  MA, 02148.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Church of the Nazarene,  529  Eastern Ave.,  Malden. The Rev.  Rod  Rivera will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery,  Everett.
