George David Mallett Sr.
George David Mallett,
73, passed away quietly at his home in Malden on Saturday, May 10th.
George was born and raised in Malden.
He graduated from Malden High School with the class of 1948.
Following his graduation, he attended Franklin Tech College for an
additional 2 years. At the age of
23, he married his sweetheart, Priscilla F. Lane, and the two would share the
next 50 years together.
George had worked for short times at GE, and also with the
Sandhogger's Union, Local #13 where he assisted in the construction of the Callahan
Tunnel, Sumner Tunnel, and the Quabin Reseviour Tunnel System. From there he
worked for the Continental Can Company, and was an employee there until the
plant closed in the late 80's. Following
that, he took employment with the city of Malden in the Department of Public
Works. He worked of the city until
his retirement in 1998.
George had been a member of the Lodge of Sterling since
1969. He also enjoyed woodworking,
gardening, and bowling, but his greatest joy was his family, especially his
grandchildren. Mr. Mallett was a
lifelong resident of Malden.
He is survived by his wife Priscilla F. (Lane) Mallett of
Malden, his children, George D. Mallett Jr. of Eagle, ID, Linda J. Clouse of
Woburn, Susan L. Mallett ) of Malden, and James C. Mallett of
Malden, his brothers William Mallett of New Hampshire and Richard Mallett of
Malden, his sister Marjorie
Gonsalves of Malden,his
grandchildren Robert Duggan , James K, Mallett , James Lynn
, Danielle Lynn , and
Stephan Clouse, and his great
grandson, James K. Mallett Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and
Marjorie Hilton, his sister Evelyn Lawlor, and his brother John A. Mallet.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Monday, May 12th, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 9:30 A.M. at Weir - Mac Cuish Funeral
Home. Rev. John Conn of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Woburn will be
officiating. Burial will be in the
Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
