Obituaries  

James Mandolo

 

James  Mandolo,  81, a  longtime resident of Malden, died Friday, October 29, 2004 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.  James was born and raised in Italy, one of four children.  He worked as a ship builder and built many large vessels, including the Andrea Dore.  In 1958, he came to the US where he married Catherine A. Franzi.  The two would share many years together in Medford before moving to Malden 40 years ago. 

After coming to the US, he took employment with the Kennelly Meat Market in Boston.  He worked there until a disability forced his early retirement. 

He is survived by his wife,  Catherine A. (Franzi) Mandolo of Malden, his sister in law, Eva Waltman of Medford, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden,  on Tuesday, November 2,  from 4-8 PM.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at  9:00 A.M. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at  10:00 A.M. in  St. Joseph's Church. Rev. William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be the Celebrant.   Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
