Mervyn Judson Mann
Mervyn Judson Mann, 90,
a retired carpenter, died Monday,
December 10, 2001 at his home in Malden, MA, while under Hospice Care. He was
born in Voglers Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada and came to the United States as a
child where his family settled in Malden and he completed his education. He
was inducted into the U.S. Army in June of 1942 serving in England, Germany and
France and participated in the invasion of Normandy with the 5th General
Hospital as a Private First Class. When he was discharged in 1945 he returned to
Malden and went to work as a carpenter for his brother in the T.B. Mann &
Sons Carpenters of Malden. He was employed there for thirty -three years until his
retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Centre United Methodist Church of
Malden, the Carpenters Union Local # 218 of Medford and just two weeks ago
received the Liberation de la France Medal from France for his participation in
the Invasion of Normandy. Mr. Mann
lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 70 years and was previously from Canada.
He is survived by his daughter Joan C. & her husband
David Cirino of Malden, his grandchildren, Sheri Ann & Louis DiStefano of
TX, and Stephanie Ann Gray of Malden, his great-grandchildren Stephen & Emma
DiStefano of TX and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. .
He was preceded in death by his wife Ina, (Daggett) Mann of
Malden , his brother Clyde O. Mann, his brother Trueman B. Mann, Sr both
formerly of Malden., his sister Kathleen Mann and his brother Wilbur Mann both
formerly of Canada.
He was born August 11, 1911 in Voglers Cove, Nova Scotia,
Canada the devoted son of the late Loraine and Alfretta (Conrad) Mann
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem St., Malden on Thursday, Dec.
13th from 12 Noon -
1:00PM
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2001
at 1:00 P.M. at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. with the Rev. John C. Blair of
Centre United Methodist Church of Malden officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
