Aileen Grace Metcalf

Aileen Grace Metcalf, 79, a retired circuit board designer died Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Sunbridge of Wilmington in Wilmington, Massachusetts.  She was born and educated in Malden and after completing her education enlisted into the U.S. Marne Corp. during WW II. When the war ended she was discharged and she resided in California before returning to Malden. She then went to work for Teradyne Co. in Boston as a circuit board designer where she was employed for over twenty years until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the First Parish in Malden, Universalist.  Miss Metcalf lived in Malden, Massachusetts for over seventy years..

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki M. Mandell and her son in-law, Jack Irwin Mandell of Saugus,  her sister, Eleanor Carnes of Malden, and a grandson, Bradley J. Mandell of Saugus.

She was born December 31, 1920 in Malden, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Sargent) Edwards.  She served in the Marines during World War II having attained the rank of Cpl.. enlisted on April 20, 1943 at Boston, MA discharged on September 29, 1945 at Camp Lejeune, NC 

Memorial Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 7, 2001 at 1:30 P.M. at The First Parish in Malden, Universalist, 2 elm St., Malden with the Rev. Duke T. Gray, Pastor of The First Parish in Malden, Universalist officiating.  Internment of her cremains will take place in the spring in the WW II Lot at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
