Charles Wesley Mhoon



Charles Wesley Mhoon, 73, of Malden, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Hammersmith Nursing Care Center in Saugus. Charlie was born in Boston, and raised and educated in Malden. He attended Malden High School, until he, like many others of his day, left early to enlist in the US Navy. He served with the Navy from 1951 until his discharge in 1953, during the Korean Conflict. 

Following his discharge, he took employment with the Boston Naval Shipyard. He worked there until 1963 when and accident caused a disability and forced his early retirement. Charles was very active in the local community, he was an active member with the Malden Order of Eagles Eagles, Malden Knights of Columbus, the Irish American Club in Malden, and the Malden Elks. 

He is survived by his wife Beverly P. (Preston) of Malden, his stepson, James M. Collins of Chelmsford, and his grandchildren Charles A. Collins of Malden, and Bonnie Jean Del Greco of Fremont, NH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Ethel (Walters) Mhoon, and his sister Nancy C. Mhoon.


Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Monday, April 21st, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22nd, at 10:00 A.M. at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
