John Peter Micalizzi

John Peter Micalizzi,  88, a retired floor layer for DiNatle  Floor Co., where he worked for over 40 years, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at Rainbow Nursing Center in Peabody, MA.  John was born in Boston, and later moved to Malden.  He was educated at the Randolph  School for the Deaf.  After completing his education, he went to work for DiNatle Floor Co. of  Neponset  as a floor layer performing all sorts of installations.  John  installed the original  ceiling hardwood in the Hatch shell along the Charles River in Boston and the parquet flooring in the old Boston Garden.  John  worked at his trade for over forty years and retired in 1975.  He was a  lifelong and honorary member of the Carpenters Local  Union,  # 67 of  Dorchester.  He was also a member of the National  Fraternal Society of the Deaf.  He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish for many years.

He is survived by his daughters,  Mary Ann Summers  of Chelsea, Dorothy G. Crotty  of Malden, father-in-law of  Paul T. Crotty of Malden. He was the grandfather of  Joseph Micalizzi and his wife Megan Micalizzi  of  Malden, Deano Summers  of Chelsea, Rick Crotty of Malden, Brett Crotty  of New Iberia,  LA.  Great-grandfather of  Courtney Crotty  of Malden, Ariana Micalizzi  of Malden, Samantha Summers  of  NH, Noelle Summers of NH, Also survived by  several nieces &  nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine M. Privitera, his father Vincenzio Micalizzi, and his mother Grazia La Fauci.

He was born July 29, 1912 in Boston, MA  the son of the late Vincenzio and Grazia (La Fauci) Micalizzi.     

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden,  on Thursday from 6-9  PM

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 13, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Hearts Church, Malden.  The Rev. Francis E. Sullivan will be celebrant.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Contributions in John's memory maybe made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
