Walter
George Myles
Walter G. Myles of Malden died Wednesday, July 25,
2007 at the Harborside Health Care in Wakefield, he was 72.
Born on May 9, 1935 in Exeter, England, he was the son of the
late Walter and Hilda (Brend) Myles. Walter’s family moved from
England and settled in Malden when he was only six months old.
He was raised and educated in Malden and was a graduate from the
Malden Trade School. Walter went to work for the Summit Press
co. in Chelsea as a paper cutter until his retirement. Walter
married his sweetheart, Karla E. (Ahlberg) in 1957 in St.
Theresa’s Church, Everett. The couple spent 50 years in
marriage together; raising and caring for their family. Walter
was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish in Malden and was
also a past choir member. He loved to build things from scratch
and also loved woodworking. Walter was very friendly and loved
to chat with his neighbors.
Walter is survived by his wife, Karla E. Myles, his
children, Duane A. Myles of No. Reading, Cynthia A. Kerrigan of
Malden, and Laura M. Myles of Melrose, his brother, David Myles
of Florida, his grandchildren, Craig O'Neill and Andrea Myles,
and his great-granddaughter, Lola. Walter is also survived by
many nieces.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his
brother, Arthur Myles and his sisters, June Olson and Yvonne
Dorazio.
Visitation will be held in the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 2 to 6
PM. Cremation will be held privately.
