Elizabeth Ann O'Connor
Elizabeth A. (Bradley) O'Connor, of Malden, died Tuesday,
October 23, 2007 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose,
she was 81. Born on September 17, 1926 in East Boston, she was
the daughter of the late James V. and Edna (Adams) Bradley.
Elizabeth was raised and educated in East Boston, growing up in
the Orient Heights section. She attended and graduated from the
Girl’s High School in East Boston. Elizabeth married her
sweetheart, Arthur E. O’Connor on June 22, 1947 in St. Joseph’s
Parish in the Orient Heights, East Boston, and the couple
settled in Chelsea to raise their family. Elizabeth and Arthur
spent 33 years in marriage together, raising and caring for
their family, until Arthur’s passing in August of 1980.
Elizabeth worked for the City of Chelsea for many years. She
began her career working in the city’s school department before
moving over to the water department. She worked for the city
for fifteen years before retiring. After some time, Elizabeth
took employment with the now Bank of America, working in the
statement rendering department until finally retiring in 1996.
Elizabeth loved to travel, often with the Senior Citizen Center
in Stoneham. She also enjoyed reading and working on jigsaw
puzzles. Elizabeth had been a resident of Malden for the past
28 years and was previously from Chelsea.
She is survived by her children, Daniel M. O'Connor and his
companion, Louise Caparco of Cranston, RI, Frederick S. O'Connor
and his wife, Alison of Malden, and Judith and her husband,
Albert Janiak of Chelsea, her sister, Nancy and her husband,
George Busby of Melrose, seven grandchildren, 6
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to
her husband and parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her
sisters, Barbara Surrette and Joann Keyes.
Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 8 AM
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church,
770 Salem Street, Malden at 9 AM. Rev. Richard T. Bakker, will
be the celebrant. Burial will immediately follow in the
Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Visitation
will be held in the funeral home on Friday, October 26, 2007
from 5 to 9 PM.
