James Joseph
“Jimmy” O'Neill Sr.,67, died Sunday afternoon, February 12, 2006 at his home.
Jim was born in Malden on June 7, 1938 the son of the late James J. & Florence
I. (Delcanho) O’Neill. He was educated in the Malden schools and was a graduate
of Malden High School Class of 1956.
Jimmy later
married his sweet heart Theresa M. Giordano on June 14, 1959 and the couple
remained in Malden and raised their two daughters and two sons. Jim worked as a
real estate agent in Malden and also bought and sold homes. He was an auto
dealer and flower shop owner. He last worked as an executive driver for Boston
Coach of Everett until his illness.
Jimmy was
an avid Bruins hockey fan and loved to watch his two sons excel in hockey and
football with the Malden High teams. He had his solo pilot’s license and loved
to fly, he had a love for the old vintage and WW II models along with being a
history buff. Jim loved his family and friends and enjoyed family gatherings,
often telling jokes and stories. He was very out going and always had a smile on
his face and encouraging words for everyone. Jimmy lived in Malden, for sixty
seven years.
He is survived
by his wife Theresa M. O’Neill and his children, Deborah A. O'Neill of Malden,
Sharon L. Shannon of North Andover, James J. O'Neill Jr. of Wakefield and
Adam J. O'Neill of CA, he was the brother of Carol Murch of Tewksbury,
Thomas O'Neill of Malden, Elizabeth McWhinnie of Maine, Diane Clark of NH,
Kathleen Snow of Melrose, he was the cherished grandfather of, Melissa
O'Neill, Amanda, Michael and Jessica Shannon..
Jim was predeceased by his
sister Florence Dever.
Visiting hours will be
held on Wednesday, February 15th. from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral from the
Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Thurs., Feb.
16th. at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts
Church, 315 Main St., Malden, at 10AM. Fr. Daniel J. Hickey will be celebrant.
Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
