Mary Elizabeth Osterholt

 

Mary Elizabeth Osterholt,  78, died Sunday, November 03, at the  Apple Valley Nursing and Rehab Center in Ayer.  Mary was born in Deer Island, Maine.  At an early age she moved to Malden, and was raised and educated there.  The graduated from Malden High School with the class of 1942.  Following high school, she enrolled in the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, where she became a Registered Nurse.  Mary worked as a private duty nurse for many years until her children were born.  In 1947 Mary and her husband George were married by Pastor Roy Minnick of the First Church of Malden, Congregational,  and the two shared the following 55 years together until George's passing this year. 

Mary was a long time member of the Lady's Aid Society of the Malden Hospital, and also performed volunteer work at the hospital  She was also a member of the Social Order of Beauseant in Malden. 

She is survived by her daughter,  Beverly A. and her husband Richard M. Barrett of Chelmsford, her son  David M. and his wife Dorothy A. Osterholt of Westminister West, VT,  her grandchildren Heather Barrett of Chelmsford, Justin Barrett of Chelmsford, Daniel Osterholt of VT, Heather Osterholt of VT, her sisters  Beverly Mc Millen of Malden, and Helene Sawyer of Lynn, and her brother  Bradley Thompson of GA. 

She was preceded in death by her husband George,  and her parents Milton and  Sarah (Howard) Thompson.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Wednesday from 6 - 9 PM1

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Randall P. Ferrara of The First Church in Malden, Congregation will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.  Donations in Mary's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701-9376.
