Sheila Lauretta Overlan, 64, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, after a very
difficult battle with cancer. Sheila was born in Boston in 1941. She moved
around the east coast while growing up, living in Georgia, New York, and New
Hampshire before graduating from Brockton H. S. with the class of 1958. She
began her career as a bookkeeper soon after high school, working for the Henry
J. Kardonick Accounting practice, and she eventually opened her own bookkeeping
firm, Sheila Overlan Bookkeeping Services. Sheila recently retired as bookkeeper
for Sparks Department Store.
Sheila was a dedicated sports fan, especially watching Notre Dame Fighting
Irish, and the New England Patriots. She was also an avid supporter of the
Boston Red Sox, and was overjoyed when they won the World Series in 2004. In her
free time, she enjoyed traveling overseas and across the United States.
She is survived by her mother, Rita M. (Hardy) Overlan of Malden, her
brothers, Kerry L. Overlan of Melrose, Lawrence A. Overlan of Canton, Kevin B.
Overlan of N. Reading, and her uncle, Jack Hardy of Revere.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence A. Overlan.
She was born April 28, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of Lawrence
and Rita (Hardy) Overlan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. at
Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 P.M. on
Saturday Afternoon, prior to the service
