George Samuel Palmer
George Samuel Palmer, 90, died
Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Concord Health Care Center in Concord, MA. George
was born on April 21, 1915, the son of the late Clinton and Mildred Palmer. He
was educated in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of
1933. George married Ida M. Benson, his wife of 64 years, on November 12,
1937. George enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 during WW II and served as a
Staff Sergeant until his discharge in 1946. When returned home to Malden, George
went to work for the MBTA. In 1977, after 34 years of service he retired as a
starter. George was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Parish of Malden.
He is survived his daughters,
Ruth A. Maloof of Concord, MA and Sandra M. Daum of Cortland, NY, five
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Ida
M. (Benson) Palmer in January 2002.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated in St. Paul's Episcopal Parish, 26 Washington St. Malden on
Friday, May 27th at 10 AM. Fr. John R. Clarke will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
Visitation will be held at the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home 144 Salem St. MALDEN on Thursday, May 26th
from 4 to 7 PM.
