Christine H. Peavey

 

Christine Hanna Peavey,  95, a  longtime resident of Malden, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. .  Christine was born in the Carney Hospital in Boston in 1912, the daughter of  Timothy and Nellie (Reilly) Scannell.  She grew up in South Boston where she attended the local school system. After completing her education, she took employment at the New England Telephone Company.  She worked there for nearly 10 years before marrying her sweetheart, Charles M. Peavey.  The two lived for a couple of years in Dorchester before settling down in Malden to raise their family.  While in Malden they became members of St. Josephs Parish.  Christine and Charles shared over 50 years together until Charles' passing in 1993.   For Christine, nothing was more important to her than her family, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children,  Brian E. Peavey of  Lynnfield,  Robert D Peavey  of Malden, MA, Nancy C. White  of Ipswich, MA, Charles R. Peavey  of Reading, Gerald F Peavey  of Melrose, MA, and Daniel T. Peavey  of Stockbridge, GA., as well as 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M Peavey, her parents,  Timothy and Nellie (Reilly) Scannell, her brothers, Daniel, John, Joseph,  and Theodore Scannell, and her sisters, Margaret Curley and Sister Helen Scannell.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden,  on Tuesday, Oct 18th,  from 4-8 PM

Funeral services will be held from the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Wed, Oct 29th at 11am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church at 12 noon.  Rev. William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
