Francis James Pike
Francis
James Pike, 79, a retired machinist
, died Saturday, December 23, 2000 at Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford,
Massachusetts. He was born in East
Boston and educated in Somerville schools graduating from Somerville High School
with the Class of 1939. When WW II broke out he enlisted in the U.S. Army in
1941 serving in Central Europe during the war. After his discharge in 1946 he
attended North Eastern University in Boson studying engineering. He then went to
work for the Boston Naval Shipyard where he was employed as a machinist for over
35 years until it's closing. He then went to work for the Revere Sugar Company
in Charlestown as a security guard for ten years. He was a member of St.
Joseph's Parish in Malden, the Knights of Columbus Tewksbury-Wilmington Lodge, a
Life Member of the VFW Post 529 of Somerville and the Somerville Elks.
Mr. Pike lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 30 Years and was previously
from Somerville.
He
is survived by his wife, Gertrude P. Pike of Malden, his brother, Charles A.
Pike of Somerville, his brother & sister in-law Donald & Ann Feltch of
Somerville and several nieces and nephews.
He
was born December 5, 1921 in East Boston, Massachusetts the son of
the late Maxwell and Elizabeth (Walsh) Pike.
He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of
Pvt. enlisted on January 6, 1942 at Boston, MA discharged on September 24, 1946
at Fort Leavenworth, KA
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, MA.
on Tuesday Dec. 26th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM
Funeral
services will be from the Weir - Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem
St. Malden on Wednesday, Dec. 27,th at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at St. Joseph's Church 770 Salem St. at 10:00 with the
Rev. John A. Daly, Pastor of St. Joseph Church
officiating. Burial will be
in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park
in Peabody.
