Linda Mae “ Pikey”  Pike

    Linda M. (Dimond) Pike, of Wakefield, formerly of Saugus and Stoneham died Thursday evening May 25, 2006 in the Winchester Hospital, with her loving family at her side, she was 57. Linda was born in Galveston, TX on February 25, 1949. She was the daughter of Gladys M. (Vaughn) Bennett of New Bedford and the late Preston H. Bennett.

    Linda was educated in the New Bedford School System and later moved to the Saugus area. She met and later married her best friend John E. Pike. Very early in life, Linda realized she had a passion for helping people, especially the elderly. After the death of her husband in 1992, she overcame many challenges and put herself through nursing school, graduating as a registered nurse and valedictorian from the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing in 1997. Linda was a long-time active member of the Malden Church of the Nazarene. The combination of her deep faith and love of the elderly led her to open her home as a refuge to many people over the years. Linda loved to travel in her Winnebago and meet new people. Her zest for life and love of her Lord were contagious. Linda had been living in Wakefield for the last two & a half years and was formerly from Saugus, Stoneham and Malden. She will be remembered and greatly missed by many lives she touched across the United States and Canada.

    She is survived by  her daughter’s  Kimberly  A. Elia  and her husband John of Melrose, Laurel  D. Pike  of Wakefield, she was the loving daughter of Gladys M. Bennett of New Bedford and  sister of Robert Dimond of Tacoma, WA, Richard Dimond of Martha's Vineyard, John Bennett  of Acushnet, Michael Bennett,  David Bennett,  Lloyd Bennett,  William Bennett all of New Bedford, Eva Thomas of New Fort Meyers, FL, and Mary Barbosa of New Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her husband John E. Pike, her father Preston Bennett, her sister Gale Heyes, and her brother James Dimond.

Visitation will be held in the Weir -MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Tuesday, May 30th.  from 4-9 PM

In lieu of flowers contributions in Linda’s memory may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 529 Eastern Ave., Malden, MA  02148,

    Linda’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Church of the Nazarene, 529 Eastern Ave. Malden. The Rev. Rod Rivera will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2 PM, Wednesday afternoon.
