Euphemia Grundy Raymond
AKA "Phoebe"
Phoebe E. Raymond,
88, a fancy silk presser for the
Faulkner Cleaners of Melrose, where she worked for many
years, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at Masonic Home in Charlton, MA.
Phoebe was born in Newcastle, England.
She was educated in the Everett School system and was a life long
resident of Malden. She was a longtime member of
the Maplewood Baptist Church, in Malden
and a Past Worthy Matron of the
Order of the
Eastern Star # 99 of Malden. She
was a resident at the Masonic Home for the last 6 years.
She is survived by her son, John C. Raymond
Jr. of Wakefield, her
sisters, Elizabeth Bennett
and Janet Powers both of
Malden and Joan Kilroy
of CA. Also survived by 6
grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Raymond
Sr., her daughter Barbara M.
Smith formerly of Malden, her father John Gaddes and her mother Euphemia Grundy,
her brother George Gaddes, her sisters Catherine DeAngelis, Lillian Mahoney, and
Sally Wyatt.
She was born October 5, 1912 in New Castle, England the
daughter of late John and Euphemia (Grundy) Gaddes.
Visitation will be held at the Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Friday
from 4-8 PM. There will be a
Eastern Star Service on Friday evening at 7PM. Contributions in Phoebe's memory
maybe made to the Masonic Home, 88 Masonic Home Rd. Charlton, MA 01507.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2001 at
10:00 A.M. at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Pastor Joseph DeCosta of Maplewood
Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial
will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
