Melvin A Redford
Melvin A Redford, 77,
died suddenly, Monday, July 5, 2004 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in
Melrose, MA. Melvin was born in
Melrose and educated in Malden schools. When he completed school he drove a
delivery truck for Ruderman's Furniture Store of Malden. He then enlisted in the
U.S. Army serving in Japan and Korea during the Korean Conflict receiving the
Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He
remained in the U.S. Army for eight years serving also during the Vietnam War
and when he returned to Malden he worked as the maintenance manager for the
Charles Street Bowling Alley until his retirement. He attended the Forestdale
Community Church of Malden and was a member of the Malden VFW Post 639.
Mr. Redford was a life long resident of Malden, MA except for his wartime
service in Japan and Korea.
He is survived by sons: John Redford of ME, Melvin
"Butch" Redford of
Malden, Arthur W. Redford of
Malden, Carl J. Redford of Malden,
his brothers: William Redford of
Malden, Alexander Redford of
Saugus, his granddaughter, Melanie
Philbrook of Malden and six other grandchildren.
He was born July 10, 1926 in Melrose, Massachusetts the son
of the late Alexander and Sophia (White) Redford.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Thursday July 8th from 11;00AM - 1:00 PM
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 8, 2004 at
1:00 P.M. at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. With Rev. Paul C. Mc
Pheeters Pastor of the Forestdale Community Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Veteran's Lot of Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
