Mary “May” Relph

 

May & Bill  Relph

      Mary   J. " May " ( Wright ) Relph,  died suddenly Thursday morning,  May 29, 2008, at her home in Stoneham,  she was 86. May was born on September 30, 1921 the daughter of the late Samuel & Letitia (Ferguson) Wright in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She attended the Belfast schools and later married her sweetheart William C. Relph. They were married on December 26, 1945 in Belfast and started a family. The couple moved with their children to the United States in 1958 and settled in Dorchester, later moving to Medford for the next fourteen years. In 1975, they moved to Malden and lived there for the next thirty-five years. The couple moved to Stoneham to live with daughter in 2006. 

      In her spare time, May loved to knit and teach others the art of knitting. She loved to read a good novel and was a great cook. She also enjoyed going to bingo with her sister's  at the Irish American Club in Malden. She enjoyed traveling around the United States with her husband, but her trip’s back home to Ireland was something she truly loved.  May & Bill were longtime members of the First Church in Malden Congregational.

     May is survived by her husband William C. Relph of Stoneham, her loving son,  Samuel Relph and his wife Betty of Malden, her loving daughter, Carol Relph of Stoneham, her loving  brother, Samuel Wright of Mansfield, her sister, Charlotte Mulholland of Medford, and her cherished grandchildren, Colby M. & Andrew W. Relph, both of Malden.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Wright and her sister, Violet Campbell.

 Visitation will be held in the Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 4-8 PM.

      Funeral services for May will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home.  The Rev.  Robert Asinger & Rev. Barbara Asinger will be officiating.  Cremation will follow in the Woodlawn Crematory in Everett and interment will be at later date in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
