Katie Marie Riley

 

Katie M. Riley, 27, of Melrose, died on Thursday evening surrounded by her family, after a brief illness at the Mass General Hospital in Boston.

Katie was a lifelong resident of Melrose. She attended the Roosevelt School in Melrose and New England Pediatric Care day school in Billerica.

Katie loved music, being read to and colorful balloons. Her favorite way to spend time was with her family.

Katie is survived by her parents, Norma A. (Gillis) and Lewis H. Riley of Melrose. Her  cherished sisters Molly  Riley Whisler and her husband Phillip of Medford, Bridget  Riley Braverman and her husband Shane of Cambridge, her loving nieces Emma and  Madeleine  and her nephew Jacob Whisler and her many aunts, uncles & cousins, and her devoted nurses Cathy Byrne and  Karen Lynch.

She was preceded in death by her sister Shannon Leigh Riley.

Visiting hours will be held at the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Monday, January 2nd., from  2-4  & 7-9.

Donations in Katie’s memory may be made to the New England Pediatric Care, 78  Boston Rd., Billerica, MA   01862.  

Funeral for Katie will be held from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Tuesday, January  3rd., at  9:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial  in the  Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155  Main St., Wakefield  at 11AM. The Rev. William D. Coughlin will be celebrant.  Burial will follow  in the Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
