Lilah Ames Rivers
Lilah Ames Rivers, 88, a homemaker from Malden, died
Saturday, October 13, 2001 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.
Lilah was born and raised in N. Waldoboro, Maine, attending the local
school systems there. After marrying her husband Thomas, she moved to Malden and
shared the next 67 years with him. She
was a member of the Maplewood Methodist Church in Malden, and also attended the
Christ United Methodist Church. She
was a former member of Rebecca’s Lodge as well.
She also enjoyed crocheting and gardening and was particularly skillful
at reviving sick plants. Mrs.
Rivers lived in Malden, Massachusetts for the past 60 years and previously lived
in Maine.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas D. Rivers of Malden
and 9 children, daughters Dawn E. Prestone of Saugus, Joan L. Chuha of Malden,
sons, Thomas D., Jr. of Malden, John R. of Malden, J Charles of Wakefield, Bruce
L. of Malden, Robert J. of Malden, daughters Vera A. Rivers of Malden and Linda
O. Burdick of Wakefield, and brothers John Ames of Ct, and Robert Ames of ME.
She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father Leon Ames, mother Mildred
Crouse, brothers Oakley Ames and Reginald Ames and her sisters Gladys Allen and
Edna Hulse.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home on
Monday, October 15th and
Tuesday, October 16th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2001
at 10:00 AM at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home.
Rev. Randall P. Ferrara of The First Church in Malden, Congregation will
be officiating. Burial will be in
the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
