Marion Rowe

Marion Rowe, 80, a lifelong resident of Malden, died Sunday, April 3rd at her home. Marion was born and raised in Malden. She settled down and raised her family where she became was very active in community service, church and youth activities.

Marion was a lifetime member of the Centre United Methodist Church, and had, in the past, taught Sunday school classes there. She was also very active in politics, both local and statewide. She was a member of the Democratic City Committee, and was the 1992 recipient of the "Democrat of the Year" award. Several times, Marion was a delegate for the Democratic National Committee. In addition, she served as a Commissioner that rewrote the City of Malden Charter Commission..

Marion was an active life member of the Lady's Auxiliary of the VFW Post  # 639, where she was a Past President, and has held various other positions within the organization. She was currently serving as President of the VFW's District 18, of which Post  # 639 is a part of. She was a member of the Melrose American Legion Lady's Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, William E. Neumyer of Newburyport, Kenneth A. Neumyer of SC, Edward Rowe of MI, Marilyn Kaiser of MD, Barbara Rowe-Card of NH, Lenny Rowe of Chelmsford, and Larry Rowe of Quincy, her brother Jarvis Ring Jr. of Peabody as well as 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Rowe, her parents, Jarvis and Elsie Ring Sr., and her brother Bernard Ring.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Tuesday, April 5th, from 4-8 PM.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Ruth R. Oduor of Christ United Methodist Church will be officiating. Cremation will be in the Woodlawn Crematory in Everett.

Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave, Chelsea.
