Ruth Elaine Rubin

 

Ruth E.  Rubin, 78, died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at her home in Malden after a long illness. Ruth was born in Reading and moved to Wakefield at an early age.  She was educated in the Wakefield School system and was a graduate of Wakefield High, Class of 1945.  After high school, Ruth took employment with Transition in Wakefield where she worked for many years.  She married her sweetheart, David I. Rubin on January 5, 1948 in Laconia, NH and then settled in Malden where the couple raised their four children.  Ruth was a member of the Women's Bowling League at Granada Lanes in Malden and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the D.A.V. at the John F. Kennedy Post in South Boston.  She was an avid Bruins fan and faithfully followed the team.  She also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and loved to play bingo at the local halls in Malden. Ruth had lived in Malden, for over forty-eight years and was previously from Wakefield and Reading.

She is survived by her husband, David I. Rubin of Malden, her children, Cecelia A. Russo of Reading, Pamela DeFranzo and her husband Gerard of Malden, Philip E. Rubin and his wife Merle of Saugus and Linda D. Rubin of Revere, her "Mom"  Eva Doucette of Reading, Loving sister of Eva Grover of Fairfield, ME. Cherished grandmother of  Deborah Lincoln and her husband Peter, Daniel Russo and his fiancée Renee, Stephanie and Heather Rubin, great-grandmother of Alyssa & Christopher Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her father Edwin Avery, her mother Lillian Chapman, her sister Marguerite Muccio, and her brothers, Albert, Walter, and Richard Avery.

Visitation will be held at the Weir- Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Wednesday, June 15th from 4-8 PM.

Contributions in Ruth’s memory may be made to Hallmark Health Hospice, 100 Hospital Road, Malden MA 02148 

Funeral services will be held at the Weir- Mac Cuish  Golden Rule  Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 16th. at  11 AM.  The Rev. Paul McPheeters will be officiating.  Cremation will be in the Woodlawn Crematory in Everett.
