Walter Louis Sandberg Jr.
Walter Louis Sandberg,
76, a prosthesis maker for
American Prosthetics INC, where he worked for 20 years, died Sunday, October 28,
2001 at his home in Melrose, Massachusetts. Walter was born in Everett, then raised and educated in
Malden, graduating from Malden High School.
Immediately after high school, he enlisted in the Army to help fight
WWII. He returned from the war in
1946, and in 1947 he married his wife Beverly Buchanan, and the two shared the
next 54 years together.
Walter was an avid cribbage player, a gourmet cook, and was
also a skilled leather carver. He
also was a past member of the Malden Elks.
He is survived by his wife Beverly
of Melrose, daughter Diane M. Malone of Malden, son Paul K. Sandberg of
CA, daughter Donna L. Swales of Medford, daughter Penny S. Rowe-Butyn of NJ, son
Philip C. Sandberg of NY, son David
S. Sandberg of Byfield, daughter Joan Stevens of
NH, daughter June Sandberg of Malden, daughter Debra C. Sandberg of FL, and
daughter Patricia J. Sandberg of FL. He
is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 10
nephews, and 13 great grandchildren.
He was born September 24, 1925 in Everett, Massachusetts
the son of Walter and Alice (Hansen) Sandberg.
He served in the Army during World War II having attained
the rank of PFC. enlisted on October 19, 1943 at Boston, MA discharged on May 9,
1946 at Ft. Devens, MA

A memorial service will
be held Thursday, Noveber 1st at 12:00 P.M. at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden. Rev. Martha A. Dominy of First Baptist Church will be
officiating.
