Gail Patricia Shepard

Gail Patricia (Hammond) Shepard, 61, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA. Gail was born in Chelsea and educated in Malden Schools graduating Malden High School with the "Class of 1960". She continued her education graduating from the Malden Business School after which she went to work for Kemper Insurance Company of Boston as a clerk for five years until her marriage. She then raised her family and she and her husband operated G.I. Joe's on Ferry Street in Malden for eight years. She then returned to the insurance industry and worked as an underwriter for several insurance agencies including Prescott and Medallion Insurance Companies of Malden retiring in 2003. She was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Malden and an avid bingo player and a friend to everyone she met. Gail was a life long resident of Malden, MA.

She is survived by her former husband Joseph Shepard, of Revere, her step-father, Alton P. Rogers of Billerica, her son, Scott  J. Shepard of Malden, her daughter, Tracey  L. Brown of  North Reading, her son, Kenneth   R. Shepard of  North Reading, her sisters; Lorraine Stanley of Malden and Rosemary Cummings of Saugus, her brother, Phillip Nelson of Stoneham and her granddaughter Stephanie L. Ellis

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Nelson.

She was born January 17, 1943  in Chelsea, Massachusetts the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Sheridan) Hammond.     

Visitation will be held at the Weir- MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden  on Monday May 17th. from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

Funeral from the funeral home on Tuesday,  May 18, 2004 at  9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main St., Malden at 10:00 AM  with Fr. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor,  of Sacred Hearts Church  officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
