Doris Mabel Singer
Doris Mabel Singer, 90,
died Saturday, February 10, 2001 at her home in Malden, MA
Doris was born in Chelsea, MA and lived her entire life in Malden. She
was educated in the Malden School system and was
a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1929.
She worked as a Sales Clerk at the former Nelson's
Bakery in Maplewood Sq. for many years.
She was a long time member of the Maplewood Baptist Church and
served as church secretary
for many years. Doris was a soloist
in the church choir and played the
piano for the Wednesday night prayer meeting for many years. Her church and
family were very important to her.
She is survived by her
daughter Virginia A. Smith
of Malden, her son Richard
J. Singer of Malden
her cherished granddaughters Patricia Romero & Susan Coppla both
of Malden,
and Margaret Hall of N. Andover, MA and 7 great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Singer,
her father Fred S. Benson Sr., her mother Mabel MacKay, her brothers Daniel
W. Benson, Fred S. Benson, and her sister Eileen H. Crosby.
She was born January 18,
1911 in Chelsea, Massachusetts the daughter of
late Fred and Mabel (MacKay) Benson.
Visitation will be held at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home,
144 Salem St, Malden on Monday from
4-8 PM
Contributions in Doris memory may be made to the Memorial
Fund of the Maplewood Baptist
Church, 729 Salem St.,
Malden, MA
02148.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at
11:00 A.M. at Maplewood Baptist Church. The Pastor Joseph DeCosta
will be officiating. Burial
will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
