John Joseph
Skeffington, 75, a longtime resident of Malden, died Wednesday,
March 30, 2005 at his home. John born in Somerville, and raised
in Charlestown. Like many of his day, he left school early to
enlist in the US Army, and help fight in WWII. After the war,
he returned to the states, and began working for the Ford Motor
Company. He worked at the Ford assembly plant in Somerville
until its closing. He also worked for many years off and on
for Ben's Asphault, a company owned by his brother. John
enjoyed socializing with friends and walking his dogs throughout
the neighborhood. John was also an avid football fan.
He is survived
by his wife Claire Bannon, his son Edward Nice of Malden, his
daughters, Mary Feeley amd Doris Solis of Malden, his step
children, Michael Bannon, Stephen Bannon, Debra Sullivan all of
Fl, Kevin Bannon of Lynn, Thomas Bannon of Malden, John Bannon
of NH, Philip Bannon of Everett, and Daniel Bannon of Taunton,
his sister, Joan Micheli of Malden, as well as 13 grandchildren
adn 5 great grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Theresa (Power)
Skeffington, his brothers William and Robert Skeffington, and
his sister Ann Taurinsky.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,
Malden, on Sunday, April 3rd, from 5 - 9 PM
Funeral
services will be held from the funeral home on Monday, April 4,
at 9AM, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St.
Josephs Church. Rev. William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's
Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn
Memorial Park in Peabody.
