Blanche Leona Smith

Blanche Leona Smith,  80, a retired sales associate and window decorator for  the former W. T. Grant Co., where she worked for 25 years, died Thursday, March 15, 2001 at her home in Malden, MA  Mrs. Smith had lived in Malden, MA  for the  last 9 years  and was previously from Duxbury, MA  where she resided for the last 15 years.

Mrs. Smith was born in Malden, MA and educated in the  Melrose School system.  She had  worked for the  W.T. Grant Department Store in Malden  for many years and later moved to Duxbury and worked  for the Grant's in that area.  Blanche retired  in 1984. Mrs. Smith was a avid line dancer and loved to walk the beaches in Duxbury.

She is survived by her brother Frederick   L. Rowe, and her sister Ruth  M. McGarry both of  Malden, MA  and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis L. Smith formerly of Duxbury, her father Leon L. Rowe and her mother Catherine  Fredericks, her brothers, Henry and  Edward Rowe both formerly of  Malden, and Leon Rowe formerly of Wakefield. .

She was born October 31, 1920 in Malden,  MA,  the daughter of  the late Leon and Catherine (Fredericks) Rowe.

Visitation will be held at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden ,MA on Sunday, March 18th.  from 5-9  PM.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule  Funeral Home.The  Rev. Elise Kinney  of  St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Malden  will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
