Joseph Corrado Speranza

Joseph Corrado Speranza, 71, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the VA Hospital of West Roxbury in Boston, MA.  Joseph was born in Boston and educated in Everett schools. When he finished school he married his wife Gloria Santangelo and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp to serve during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he returned to Everett and went to Bentley College receiving his Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He then went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as an auditor and later became a defense contract auditor retiring in 1991. Since his retirement he has worked part time for Donahue Associates of Cambridge doing tax work. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Malden, the Disabled American Veteran's Post of Everett and the Scleroderma Foundation of Topsfield.  Mr. Speranza lived in Malden, MA for the past forty years and was previously from Everett.

He is survived by his wife Gloria L. (Santangelo) Speranza of Malden, his mother Domenica (Fonzi)  Speranza of Florida, his son, Joseph C. Speranza of Saugus, his daughter, Cheryl A. Coughlin of ME, his brother, Charles Speranza , his sisters; Rosemarie Howard and Jeanne Blackwood all of FL,  and his grandchildren; Ryan, Gina & Laura Coughlin of ME, and Michael Speranza of Saugus.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Speranza. 

He was born June 3, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of Domenica (Fonzi) and the late Joseph Speranza.     

Visitation will be held at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Sunday June 15th  from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM 

Contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, New England Chapter, 462 Boston Street Suite 1-1, Topsfield, MA 01983

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, June 16, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden with Father Wallace Blackwood, Pastor of St. Ann’s Church, Peabody officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
