Marcel
Walter St. Martin
Marcel W. St. Martin of Malden died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at
the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, he was 86. Born on
January 4, 1921 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Walter
and step-son of the late Mollie St. Martin. Marcel was raised
and educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge
and Latin with the Class of 1939. After high school, Marcel
enlisted into the Army to help fight for our country during
World War II. He entered into active duty on July 4, 1942 and
served until he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in
the Medical Corps on January 16, 1946. On November 27, 1951,
the Army activated Marcel back into active duty during the
Korean War, this time with the 101st Airborne
division. He once again was honorably discharged on August 24,
1951. Marcel worked for many years for the City of Cambridge.
He was a civil service foreman for the Public Works Department
for over 33 years until he retired. Marcel was very involved
with the Boy Scouts of America in the Cambridge Council. He was
a member until he retired in 1985. He was also awarded with the
Silver Beaver Award in 1958. He was a life member of the
American Legion, Post 27 as well as the National Rifle
Association. Marcel was also an active member of the Marshfield
Rod and Gun Club. He was also a Notary Public and was a
Constable in Cambridge. Marcel had resided in Malden for many
years.
Marcel leaves
his sister, Suzanne Holt of Malden.
In addition to
his parents, Marcel was preceded in death by his brother-in-law,
Frank Holt.
At Marcel’s
request, all funeral services are to be held privately.
