William Edward Stevens
William E. Stevens, of Stoneham, formerly of Malden died Friday, June 23, 2006
at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, he was 76. Born on February 20,
1930 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Whitney G. and Letitia M. (Single)
Stevens. William raised and educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of
Rindge Technical High School with the Class of 1947. He was a former employee
of Foster’s Caterers of Newbury St in Boston. He retired from the Malden school
department after twenty-eight years service. William married his sweetheart,
Claire A. Johnston in September of 1953 in Cambridge. Soon after, the couple
settled in Malden to raise their family. William and Claire would have
celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on September 19th. William was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Malden. Mr. Stevens had lived in Malden
for the past 52 years prior to moving to Stoneham in October 2005.
He is
survived by his wife Claire A. Stevens, his sons, William E. Stevens, Jr. and
his wife, Patricia of Candia, NH and Gary W. Stevens and his wife, Karen of
Byfield, MA, his siblings, Florence White of York, ME and Whitney G. Stevens,
Jr. of Florida, his grandchildren, Kimberly Frank, Stacy Mancaniello, Billy,
Adam, and Alex Stevens, his great-grandchildren, Emily and Aaron Mancaniello as
well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and his brother, Frank Stevens.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather for a memorial service that will be
held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the First Baptist Church, 493 Main
St. Malden at 12 Noon. Rev. Martha A. Dominy will be officiating.
