Eva Hilda Stride
Eva Hilda Stride, 99,
a retired registered nurse, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the Epoch Senior
Care Center in Melrose, MA. Eva was born in Moordawn, Bournemouth, England and
after WW II ended came to the United States settling in Malden thirty-nine years
ago. She then entered the nursing program at Spaulding Hospital in Boston and
became a registered nurse. She then worked for the Malden Nursing Home as a
Registered Nurse until its closing and then went to work for the Davenport
Memorial Home of Malden in the same capacity until she retired. She was a member
of the Malden Grange, Malden Old & New and the Malden Senior Citizens. Eva
was an avid horsewomen and swimmer and loved to travel, having made twenty two
trips back to England and visiting every state in the union.
Miss Stride lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 49 years and was
previously from England.
She is survived by her niece, Irene Snider of ORE and her
long time friend, Dorothy P. Jewell, of Malden.
She was born January 30, 1902 in Moorsdawn, England the
daughter of the late George and
Charlotte (Selwood) Stride.
Visitation will be held at Weir Mac Cuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem St., Malden on Tuesday from 2-4 P
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2001
at 1:00 P.M. at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall P. Ferrara
of The First Church in Malden, Congregational officiating.
Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield`.
