Obituaries  

George Adrian Sweeney, 70, passed away Thursday, December 30th in Ocala, Florida.  He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1934. He started his career as a baker in Ireland and was employed by the First National Supermarket in Malden for many years. He later became a Correctional Officer at the Billerica House of  Correction in Billerica, MA.  He was a supportive and loving father, a good friend and an extremely hard worker. He had the gift of being a handyman and used that gift to help everyone around him his entire life. He had a passion for dancing and was great at it. You could find George, Ballroom dancing or Country Western dancing three to four times a week.

He sadly leaves behind three loving daughters, Maxine Bartlett of N. Andover, Regina Sweeney of England and Randi Trygstad of Michigan.  His sister Beatrice D'albenzio and  brothers  Emmett, Vivian and Brian Sweeney. As well as, his four grandchildren Remy, Jake, Riley and Brian.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 7th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Weir-Mac Cuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA  02148. In lieu of flowers  donations may be made to the Tsunami / Earthquake Relief Fund at www.usafreedomcorp.gov.
