Frances Tanso
Frances Tanso, 101, a
longtime resident of Malden, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Lawrence Memorial
Hospital in Medford. Frances was born and raised in Boston, the last of eight
children. After high school, she married her sweetheart, Michael Tanso. The
two settled in Medford to raise their family, and had moved to Malden 65 years
ago. She worked as a candy dipper for the Williams Candy Company in Somerville
for many years. She later became the manager for her nephews catering company,
Arthur's Catering of Medford.
Frances was a very giving
person who supported many religious charities. She enjoyed cooking and
entertaining company, welcoming people with her "open door" policy and making
sure they were fed before they left. Frances was also a voracious reader, who
would read just about anything she could get her hands on.
She is survived by her sons,
Robert M. Tanso of Malden, and Henry P. Tanso of Everett, her daughter,
Florence Matonis of Malden, twelve grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her husband Michael T. Tanso, her parents Generusso and Angelina (Serino)
Lanzillo, and her 7 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held at
Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Tuesday, May 15th,
from 4-9 PM

Funeral services will be held
from the funeral home on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. for a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church. Rev. William J. Minigan,
Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Holy
Cross Cemetery, Malden.
