Brenda M. “Newy”  Edwards-Thibert

Brenda M. “Newy” Edwards-Thibert (Coggins),  69, died peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, October 02, 2003 in Malden, MA. "Newy" was born and educated in Liverpool, England. She came to the United States in 1953 residing originally in Charlestown and Somerville. In 1967 she moved to Malden where she was devoted to raising her children and has resided there for the past thirty-six years. She was employed as a switchboard operator for the Somerville Police Department and Somerville City Hall for a number of years. She also worked as a waitress for a number of years for the Continental Restaurant in Somerville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Malden and was an avid bingo and scrabble player.  Mrs. Edwards-Thibert lived in Malden, MA for the past thirty-six years and was previously from Somerville and Charlestown.

She is survived by her husband Bernard  H. Thibert, of Malden, her son, Michael J. Edwards of Revere, her daughter, Laurette M. Dever of Malden, her daughter, Brenda C. Ferola  of Malden, her daughter, Donna L. Hanson  of Byfield, her son, Dean L. Edwards of Melrose, her daughter, Kelly A. Shamma, of NH, her son, Lawrence C. Edwards, Jr. of Georgetown, her brothers; James Connolly of England, John Maxwell of OR and fifteen grandchildren , six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. .

She was born June 25, 1934 in Liverpool, England the daughter of the late Michael and Mariah (Lacey) Coggins.     

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Sunday, October 5th  from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM

Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in  Sacred Heart Church, 297 Main Street, Malden  at 9:00AM with  Fr. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor of Sacred Hearts Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
