Osvaldo J. “Valdi”  Torres

Osvaldo  J. “Valdi” Torres,  48, died, suddenly, Thursday, December 16, 2004 at his home in Malden, Massachusetts.  "Valdi" was born in the Bronx, New York. He returned to Santurce, Puerto Rico at an early age where he was educated completing two years of college. He resided in Santurce and Toa Alta , Puerto Rico where his passions included swimming and drag racing which he really enjoyed participating in.  He returned to the United States in 1983 residing in Chelsea before settling in Malden in 1995. He was employed as an accountant for the Pine Street Inn of Boston until having to retire due to disability. He enjoyed making miniature cars and was a loving father to his daughters whom he called his angels and was devoted to his two grandchildren Joel and Javier De Leon.  Mr. Torres lived in Malden, Massachusetts for nine years and was previously from Chelsea and Puerto Rico.

He is survived by his wife Ana Cruz, of Malden his father Juan Torres of Puerto Rico, his daughters, whom he called his angels, Melissa Torres of Malden, Yaritza De Leon of Winchester, Melanie Torres of Malden, his brother, Richard Rodriguez of CA, his sister, Brunilda Gonzalves of PR, his brother, Javier Torres of PR, and his grandsons, Joel and Javier De Leon of Winchester.

He was preceded in death by his mother Maria (Marcano) Torres.

He was born March 12, 1956 in Bronx, New York the son of Juan and the late Maria (Marcano) Torres.     

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street Malden, MA  on Monday Dec. 20th  from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM

Funeral from the funeral home on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at  9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street Malden at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Daniel J. Hickey Pastor of Sacred Hearts Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
