Cyrilla "Jeanne" Turner
C. Jeanne Turner, 81, a
longtime resident of Malden who had lived in Lake Worth, Florida for the past 20
years, passed away Saturday, October 15, at the St. Francis Hospital in
Hartford, Connecticut. Jeanne was born and raised in Gloucester, MA, graduating
from Gloucester HS with the class of 1942. A few of years later, she married
her sweetheart, James Turner, and the two settled in Malden. Jeanne became the
office manager for Jim's growing oil business, and worked there until their
retirement. Even after her retirement from the family oil business, she went to
work at Russo's Candy in Saugus as a salesperson to keep herself busy.
Jeanne was an active member to
the Order of the Eastern Star in Malden. She also enjoyed knitting and
crotchetting, and was very proud of being able to sew her own clothes. In
addition, Jeanne enjoyed reupholstering furniture in her spare time, as well as
playing cards games like Canasta. In 1978, she and her husband Jim moved from
Malden to North Reading, and resided there before moving to Florida 20 years
ago.
She is survived by her husband
Jim, her daughter, Linda C. Buttaro of Malden, her aunt Alice B. Doucette of
Gloucester, her nieces Susan Sloan and Lynne Gaffey of Melrose Norman Turner
and Rosemary (Turner) of FL, her granddaughter, Paula J. and her husband
Christopher Carroll of CT and her 3 great grandchildren whom she loved and
adored.
She was preceded in death by
her father John Alves, her mother Cyrilla M. , her son Paul R. Smith, and her
sister Barbara Manning.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, October 22nd , 10:00 A.M. at the Weir MacCuish Funeral
Home. Father John R. Clarke of St. Paul's Episcopal Parish will be
officiating. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Visitation will be held at
Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Friday, October 21st,
from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM
