
William Donald Upton
William Donald Upton, 74, of Malden, died Friday,
June 24, 2005 at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody.
Bill was born in Somerville, and moved to Woburn at an
early age where he was raised and educated. After
high school, Bill attended Burdett College and Bentley
College, where he studied accounting. He then
enlisted in the US Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict. He served
aboard the USS Shenandoah for several years, and then
aboard the USS Miller before his discharge. He was
discharged in 1955 having attained the rank of Yeoman
2nd Class.
Upon
returning from the service, Bill took employment with
International Harvester as an accountant. He worked
for the company for many years, until he began getting
involved with real estate. He worked as a Real Estate
Broker and was also involved in property management,
working for the Pinkham's in Lynn. During this time, he
moved from Woburn to Newton, where he lived for many
years, then he spent a short time in Brockton before
settling in Malden over 20 years ago.
He is
survived by his sisters, Dorothy G. Johnson of
Billerica, Barbara J. Quinn of Lowell, Elsie M. Brophy
of Woburn, Judith A Upton of Woburn, his brothers
Charles F. Upton of Burlington, , Richard P. Upton of
FL, Joseph R. Upton of Woburn, Roger K. Upton of
Woburn, and Robert D. Upton of Apollo Beach, FL.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces
and grandnephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, Everett M. and
Margaret A. (Lyons) Upton, his brother Everett M.
Upton, his sister Margaret A. Torrice, his brother John
J. Upton, and his sister Phyllis J. James.
Visitation will be held at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Wednesday,
June 29th, from 4-8 PM
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30 from
the funeral home at 8:00AM for a Mass of Christian
Burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church. Rev.
Richard T. Bakker of St. Joseph's Church will be
officiating. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross
Mausoleum in Malden. Contributions in Bill's memory may
be made to the American Lung Association, 5 Mountain Rd.
